Emirates has revealed onboard requests for vegan meals increased by over 40 percent in January, and the airline served over 20,000 vegan meals during Veganuary.
The airline is popular among vegan travellers thanks to its wide range of dedicated menus which are designed with a team of nutritionists and chefs.
According to the airline, it offers over 170 plant-based recipes in its kitchen to cater to its vegan customers due to high demand as vegan meals rank as the third most commonly requested special meal in Economy Class.
Some of the most popular dishes on the menu, which is changed monthly, include Mushroom Ravioli, Vegetable Tagine served with couscous, and a Sweet Potato, Lentil and Spinach Ragout served with steaming brown rice.
The airline also introduced vegan cheese on board in April 2018 and to date, Emirates has served over 18,000 kg of the nut-based cheese to hungry passengers looking for an onboard snack.
Vegan meals are available on all Emirates flights and across all classes and can be requested 24 hours before departure.
