A percentage of ticket sales from the screening of When Pigs Escape will be donated to two animal sanctuaries who helped rescue the sow
A documentary telling the story of a pig who made global headlines after escaping from a British farm will screen in all Showcase cinemas across the UK on November 19.
When Pigs Escape, directed by Jusep Moreno, documents the escapades of sow Matilda, who escaped from a Nottinghamshire pig farm before giving birth to her piglets in the woods last year.
Along with her nine piglets, Matilda was found by a dog walker, who contacted Brinsley Animal Rescue hoping to find a home for the family.
After initially being moved to the Rescue, Matilda her piglets moved to Surge Sanctuary, where they now all live.

A statement sent to Vegan Food & Living said: “In his debut as a documentary filmmaker, Jusep Moreno takes us on a journey that recounts the campaign to save Matilda, and follows her new life after being rescued, inviting the audience to see pigs like they have never seen them before.
“The documentary premiered last August at Bonington Theatre in Arnold, and had further screenings in Broadway Cinema and Mammoth Cinema, raising funds for the two animal sanctuaries that rescued Matilda and her piglets.
“Since then, the documentary has been selected by more than 10 international film festivals in six countries, receiving four awards.”
When Pigs Escape will be screened in all Showcase Cinemas in the UK on November 19. The film will be followed by a pre-recorded Q&A. Ten per cent of ticket sales will be donated to Brinsley Animal Rescue and The Surge Sanctuary.
