US restaurant group Talk of the Town’s Charley’s Steak House is set to collaborate with meat-alternative brand Chunk to add vegan steak to its menu in Orlando, becoming the first traditional steakhouse in the US to do so.
As well as serving traditional beef steaks, Charley’s first plant-based steak titled “F U Filet Mignon” is a realistic 6oz Fillet from Chunk Foods and is priced at $69.
Chunk’s mission is to provide accessible and delicious plant-based foods that replicate beef and can be used in a variety of vegan recipes. The steaks are made with minimal ingredients and are high in protein and low in salt.
“Passionate about pushing boundaries”
In a statement, Chunk’s Founder and CEO Amos Golan shared the company’s optimism about their new partnership with Talk of the Town, saying: “At Chunk, we’re passionate about pushing boundaries. This partnership expands the addressable market for the industry by marking the first time a steakhouse chain is offering a plant-based steak.
“Talk of the Town Restaurant Group is leading the pack, and together, we’re ensuring that all guests, regardless of dietary preference, can enjoy an exceptional steakhouse experience.”
Chunk plans to roll out its vegan steaks to more restaurants and concepts by October.
