Vegan soul food pop-up restaurant LD's Kitchen finds permanent home in Bristol pub

Popular Pop-up kitchen and takeaway LD’s Kitchen finds permanent home in Bristols Kingsdown Vaults and is set to welcome guests on May 15th.

The vegan kitchen won both vegans and meat-eaters over with their plant-based soul food, inspired by American BBQ cooking.

Founder of Bristols LD’s Kitchen and rock musician Lianna Davies felt there was something missing in Bristol’s vegan food scene and a gap for her plant-based creations.

“I wanted to be an employer where musicians have a job to come to”

LD’s Kitchen was launched during the coronavirus pandemic. Lianna’s band Turbowolf’s busy touring schedule came to a sudden halt, left without stable income Davies and her partner quickly launched LD’s Kitchen. Only hiring fellow struggling musicians who had been hit hard by the pandemic.

Lianna told the BBC “I want to be an employer where musicians have a job to come back to in between gigs and touring”.

Since opening its first pop-up in January 2021, LD’s Kitchen inspiring plant-based soul food has been lapped up by the people of Bristol.


“Meat-free didn’t mean your food had to be bland and lack soul”

In a statement, Davies explained “I was introduced to veganism from my family in America 17 years ago”

Serving a range of American-BBQ-inspired soul food, including Southern fried Mocken, Pork Style Seitan Ribs, WTF Brisket, and Mac’n’Cheeze. Vegans and Meat eaters will not be left disappointed.

The permanent move to the Kingsdown Vaults will mean customers can eat in the venue and even enjoy LD’s new Sunday lunch menu. We can’t wait to try it!
