Bristol has landed its first-ever 100 percent vegan Indian restaurant.
Vegan India has operated as a take-away only service since 2021, and recently rebranded to only serve plant-based food.
Now, its owners have opened a permanent restaurant in Bishopston and has already received praise from its first sit-in customers – who described the eatery as ‘phenomenal’.

“Thank you all for your support last two years. We are really greatful to you,” Vegan India wrote on Facebook.
“We are dedicated to serve our vegan community with delicious Indian food.
“It is a great moment for us and we are really proud to open a vegan restaurant.”

Vegan India – what’s on the menu
Diners can opt from an array of traditional Indian starters, including Onion Bahji, Vegetable Samosa, Alo Chat, and vegan Chicken Puri.
For mains, there is a slew of curries such as Tikka Masala, Korma, Vindaloo, and Pasanda. Prices start from £6.95.
Rice, naan, sundries, and side dishes are also available.
At the time of writing, Vegan India is still waiting on a licence to serve alcohol but allows guests to bring their own booze. Soft drinks and fruit juice are also on the menu.
