Birds Eye is promoting the great taste and texture of plant-based meat alternatives in a comical new TV advert in a bid to target meat-eaters to entice them to try vegan foods.
Birds Eye recently made its first foray into the world of vegan meat-alternatives in a bit to compete with brands such as Quorn with its Green Cuisine range and now the company is promoting the great taste and texture of plant-based meat alternatives in a comical new TV advert.
The advert sees a group of vampires congregating at a vampire convention, ‘Vampcon’, and enjoying what they believe to be meat burgers from a burger van.
When one hungry vampire asks the lady at the burger van for “one of those meaty burgers”, she informs him, much to the other vampire’s surprise, that they are in fact serving “meat-free burgers actually,” leaving the shocked vampires to exclaim: “Whoops, I’m a bit veggie!”
The adverts ends by saying: “New Green Cusine burgers from Birds Eye – so meaty you’ll be surprised they’re not!”
Green Cuisine
The Green Cuisine range includes a selection of soy-free and wheat-free products such as sausages, burgers and ’Swedish-style balls’, all of which retail at £2.50.
Speaking about the decision to launch a plant-based range to meet growing consumer demand, Birds Eye marketing director, Steve Challouma, said: “This is a major strategic launch into an increasingly important and fast-growing segment within the plant-based foods space.
“We have successfully been able to recreate the taste and texture of popular meat products, helping families reduce their meat consumption through healthy options without compromising on flavour.”
