Grammy-winning singer Billie Eilish and Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix delivered vegan burgers to homeless LGBT+ youth in need last week.

Billie Eilish and Joaquin Phoenix were spotted delivering vegan burgers from Monty’s Good Burgers to homeless LGBT+ youth last week.

The event was organised by Eilish’s mother Maggie Baird, the founder of the vegan Covid-19 relief program Support + Feed, and marked its one year anniversary.

The stars met at My Friend’s Place – a centre that supports 1200 homeless LGBT+ youth in Los Angeles – to hand out much-needed food.

The centre helps displaced queer youth from as young as 12, arranging food drives such as this one, and offering health and education programs.

Both Eilish and Phoenix are long-term vegans and consistently use their large platforms to advocate for cruelty-free living.

Phoenix was joined by his wife and fellow actor Rooney Mara

Support + Feed initiative

Maggie Baird launched Support + Feed in response to the mass food insecurity caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and began redistributing plant-based meals to those in need around Los Angeles.

A year on, the initiative now works with dozens of plant-based eateries in not just Los Angeles but also New York, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia.

Aside from delivering much-needed food to underserved communities, Support + Feed also educates about the benefits of plant-based foods for both personal health and the climate crisis.

Speaking to Variety magazine, Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix remarked:

“At a time when most people were worried about their own health and security, Maggie dreamed up and implemented a plan to get nourishing food to people who needed it most.”
