British supermarket Asda is at the forefront of plant-based innovation, having launched an ambient vegan aisle, lowering their prices on free-from products and trialling a vegan butchers counter within the last year alone.

Moreover, the retailer opened a sustainability store in Leeds as part of the company’s eco-strategy which dictates that consumers should not pay more for greener options.

For Veganuary 2021 Asda is launching 22 brand new chilled and frozen products into its existing vegan range. Perhaps most excitingly, Asda will launch its own-brand vegan bacon – so even vegans can treat themselves to a bacon roll this Veganuary.

The range will also feature many more meat alternatives, including Vegan Roast Chicken Pieces, Vegan Chicken Nuggets, Vegan Beef Strips, and Soya Mince. Cooking without animal-based products has never been easier!

Unable to cook from scratch? Asda has got you covered with a warming South Indian Style Curry, a lightly spiced Veggie Tikka Masala and a comforting Meat Free Vegan Lasagne.

This January, Asda is launching Soya Mince that is perfect for chilli's, lasagne, pasta dishes and more!

Snacks and baking mixes

Asda is also launching some new products which are perfect for an afternoon snack including Meat Free Sausage Rolls, Steakless Bakes, and Teriyaki Popcorn. Working from home never looked so appealing!

Moreover, Asda has released three mixes for baking and creating vegan dishes. The two baking mixes will help you make easy breakfast muffins in Berry and Coconut and Cornbread and Jalapeno flavour. On the other hand, the retailer is also launching a Vegan Batter Mix for creating vegan fish with banana blossom or tofu.

‘A huge surge’

In a statement sent to Vegan Food and Living, Julie Wild, Own Brand Strategy Manager at ASDA told us: We’ve seen a huge surge in customers shopping for plant-based products over the past year – it’s why we launched our dedicated Vegan Bays with over 100 products in each store.

“It’s important to us that customers know they can get everything they need, at a great value, under one roof at ASDA, so we’re pleased to launch a further 22 new vegan products this Veganuary and look forward to unveiling many more as the year progresses.”

‘Our job is much easier’

Toni Vernelli, Head of Communications at Veganuary told us: We’re thrilled that ASDA is launching so many exciting new vegan products this January.

“Veganuary’s role is to help people choose plant-based foods, whether their motivation is health, planet, people or animals. And our job is much easier if there is plenty of great-tasting, high-quality food like this readily available and at affordable prices.

We can’t wait to try the new vegan products at Asda this Veganuary, and we’re sure they’ll be a huge hit!

The range is available now from all Asda stores across the UK, with prices starting from £1.50.
