Applewood's sell-out vegan cheese will soon be available to purchases as slices which are perfect for for adding to burgers and sandwiches.
Applewood, a cheese company that has been producing traditional dairy cheese for more than 56-years, launched its first-ever vegan cheese in collaboration with VBites last year in 235 Asda stores, and it proved so popular that the company soon expanded its listings to 470 stores up from its 235 initial stockists.
Now the cheesemaker is offering the popular product on slice-form that is perfect for adding to burgers and cheese toasties thanks to its deliciously melty texture.
The Applewood® Vegan Slices, which are fortified with B12 and calcium, will go on sale on TheVeganKind and VBites.com soon and will retail at £2.50 for 200g.
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Lisa Harrison, the Senior Brand Manager for Applewood commented: “We are in no doubt that these slices will be a huge hit with our customers as the block has been flying off the shelves since it launched in September 2019, because it really does taste as good as the reviews say!”
Praise
Singing the praises of the dairy-free cheese alternative, VBites founder Heather Mills said: “There’s no lactose, milk, eggs, soya, nuts or gluten in Applewood Vegan, it’s dairy free and cholesterol-free but it’s packed with the taste that vegans, veggies and flexitarians want in their sandwiches and lunch boxes.
“And because it melts wonderfully but still keeps its flavour, something which was important to 88% of people in our taste tests, it’s perfect for all sorts of dishes from toasties, pizzas and pastas to baked potatoes and cheesy nachos and even fondue.
“At last, for those thinking of changing their diet because of health, ethical and environmental concerns, there’s no need to worry that you’ll miss the taste of cheese.”
