Missing your Greggs vegan steak bake fix during lockdown? Aldi supermarket has just launched its very own version of the popular pastry for customers to enjoy at home.

The Plant Menu No Steak Bake is on sale in stores now in the frozen section and costs just £1.19 for a pack of two making it cheaper than Greggs which costs £1.55 for a single pastry.

According to the retailer, the plant-based pastry resembles a classic steak bake in appearance and taste and is filled with a meatless filling made from soya protein and a rich gravy and encased within a crisp and golden flaky vegan pastry.

Speaking about the new product, the retailer said: “In an Aldi first, the supermarket is bringing the infamous bakery shop favourite – the vegan steak bake –to stores near you. The end result is so delicious, you definitely won’t miss the real thing.”

The new pastry is the latest addition to Aldi’s new vegan Plant Menu range which launched earlier this year and includes a selection of ready meals, pizzas and plant-based pastries.
