Aldi describes its plant-based croissants, pain au chocolat, and chocolate brioche rolls as the cheapest vegan pastries sold by UK supermarkets
Budget supermarket Aldi has brought its line of plant-based pastries, including the infamous Aldi vegan croissants, back to its shelves.
The retailer describes the treats as the ‘cheapest vegan pastries’ available in supermarkets, perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to spend time whipping up their own vegan baking recipes.
Among the offerings are croissants, pains au chocolat and chocolate brioche rolls.
They are sold in packs of eight, retailing for £1.75, which means that each pastry costs 22p.
Shoppers can pick up the pastries now, but the supermarket has warned that as a Specialbuy ‘once they’re gone, they’re gone’.
Cheapest vegan pastries
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Aldi said: “The Plant Menu Vegan Croissants are perfect on their own, but can provide the ideal canvas for additional toppings…for a result that rivals those on the streets of Paris.
‘What’s more, shoppers can save 38 per cent at Aldi compared to Waitrose’s vegan croissants (£2.85) or 20 per cent compared to Sainsbury’s vegan croissants (£2.20).
‘Aldi is also bringing back its Plant Menu Vegan Pains Au Chocolat, packed with non-dairy chocolate between flaky layers, with a gooey melted middle when served warm, as well as the delicious Plant Menu Vegan Choc Chip Brioche Rolls.’

The go-to vegan supermarket range
Earlier this year, a study published by The Goodness Project revealed that Aldi is the UK’s most popular supermarket when it comes to vegan food.
The study came to this conclusion by analysing Google search data from the past two years to discover the most searched for supermarket for their vegan food range.
With a total of 2,900 searches, Aldi topped the charts, beating the likes of M&S, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s.
