Co-op launches ‘incredible’ vegan burgers

Co-op has just launched an own-brand vegan burger that mimics the juiciness of a beef burger with the power of beetroot and other plant-based goodness.

Vegetarians and vegans can swap snacking on sides for food that’s hot off the grill at BBQ’s this summer, with Co-op’s new Incredible Burgers, which ‘bleed’ with beetroot.

The frozen plant-based patties, which contain 13g of protein, are made from a blend of minced soya, chickpea flour, tomato puree, onion, and sunflower oil.

The company has also included beetroot powder in the recipe to give the patties the impression they are ‘bleeding’ in a bid to appeal to flexitarians looking to swap meat for plant-based products.

To meet growing demand from consumers, Co-op recently launched a selection of exciting new vegan products during Veganuary including sandwiches, ready meals and wine.

Co-op’s vegan and vegetarian wine offering is also better than ever – boasting more than 100 lines for shoppers. The community retailer pioneered clear wine labelling and was the first supermarket to include allergen and ingredient information on its wines.

Co-op joins the likes of Iceland, Aldi, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s in offering customers realistic meat-free burgers.

Incredible Burgers are available to purchase at Co-op supermarkets now and are priced at £2 for a pack of two.
